Christine & Francesco – A Romantic Italian Wedding at The Park Savoy
Monday the 22nd of February
This fall we had the pleasure of planning a big Italian wedding hosted by the Park Savoy in Florham Park, NJ; another great venue that was transformed from an old mansion years ago.
The ceremony was held at the newly renovated and gorgeous church of St. Bartholomew’s in Scotch Plains. Having such large families, Christine & Frank included 6 young boys to be junior groomsmen who enthusiastically helped hand out programs, designed by The Finishing Touch Event Design, and tissues to guests as they entered the church. In a touching and full Catholic mass, Christine & Francesco exchanged their vows in front of 200+ family and friends.
Following the ceremony, we had a surprise waiting for the Groom ~ Frank’s soccer team arrived in uniform to greet he and Christine with bubbles and white streamers. It was such a fun touch.
Once we reached Park Savoy, the bridal party, dressed in deep red gowns, and Christine & Francesco took photos in the outside garden. Guests enjoyed mingling and eating inside the cocktail hour as well as on the outside patio as the enjoyed the beautiful piano playing provided by Craig Scott Entertainment. As guest’s entered the foyer leading to the ballroom, they were met with a warm engagement photo of the couple and a very unique “guest book” created by The Finishing Touch Event Design. Guests were asked to retrieve a ‘wish’ from an apothecary jar and in turn were asked to leave a wish for the Bride and Groom. We couldn’t resist & reached in to retrieve a wish “You will soon receive a phone call from a long lost friend.” Can’t wait!
Inside the ballroom, oval tables with crisp white linen provided the canvas for Crest to display tall pewter candelabras with pillar candles and red Rose petals at the base. The room was illuminated in amber coloring and the couple’s monogram was projected onto the dance floor with a Gobo provided by Dynamite FX. We created personalized table names representing Christine and Frank’s favorite Italian cities as well as beautiful wrapping for the candy dish favors, which included the traditional, boubboniere. They were truly a compliment to the beautiful table design.
Christine & Francesco also treated the kid’s table to ‘goodie bags’ filled with games, funky sunglasses and toys to keep them occupied through the night. The sweetheart table was placed in front of Park Savoy’s white marble fireplace with votives and pillar candles lining the mantle. Their four-tiered white wedding cake decorated with gorgeous flowers was displayed alongside Christine’s surprise cake to her groom in shape of a soccer ball.
During the reception, guests enjoyed music by Michael at DJMC Entertainment, which included the tarantella, a traditional Italian dance. As if the expansive cocktail hour and a four course meal wasn’t enough, guests were welcomed into Viennese Hour to find a Gelato station, waffle & ice cream station, chocolate fondue fountain, assorted gourmet pastries, a cordial bar, just to name a few.
Working alongside the Park Savoy staff made our job extremely easy! Special thanks to Alan, Bill and all the wonderful staff. Much love & luck to the newlyweds, Christine & Francesco!
