TFT heads to Martha Stewart’s Wedding Party!

This past Sunday we had the pleasure of attending “Martha Stewart’s Wedding Party” at Gotham Hall in New York City, which was produced by Claudia Hanlin of The Wedding Library.  It was absolutely fantastic and we had such a great time!!

One of the event’s highlights was a panel discussion featuring some of the industry’s icons including the fabulous Floral and Event Designer Preston Bailey, Cake Designer and Expert Sylvia Weinstock, fashion designer Amsale Aberra and Darcy Miller, the editorial director at Martha Stewart Weddings and Celebrations.

We also really enjoyed Claudia’s discussion about the importance of the details in your wedding (of course!) as well as Sue Corral’s talk about branding your wedding.  It was all great information.

Throughout the day, we met fun brides and fell in love with so many awesome vendors, but one of our absolute favorites is Sandy Patangay, owner of Creme Delicious.  Her elaborate and scrumptious cakes are an amazing addition to any event.  Thanks Sandy for being so fantastic!

Fab Find: Pose Perfectly With Parasols!

One of the latest trends for Spring and Summer weddings is posing with some picture perfect parasols! These beautiful pieces can create unique and memorable photo ops at any location. Not only do they provide fabulous photos, but can be a great addition to offer to your guests. If you are having an outdoor affair where the sun may be a factor, consider having one available for each  guest to use -these make for a great favor or keepsake!

Looking for an eye catching color to provide some contrast with your bridal party? Talk with your planner about coordinating your parasol selections so they will be sure to complement your color scheme. For 2012, some of the hottest colors are pastels such as lilac and celedon as well as bright and vivid hues like electric pink and of course, Pantone’s color of the year tangerine tango. Weddings of Distinction: Aqua Bleu Salon

As Platinum Preferred Professionals of Weddings of Distinction NJ, The Finishing Touch decided to venture out and meet some of our WOD family! We had a blast when we stopped in at Aqua Bleu Salon located on Long Beach Boulevard in Ship Bottom, NJ.

Aqua Bleu is a full service salon offering hair, nail and skin treatments. Upon arrival, we were greeted by our stylists, Billie and Michelle, who were super sweet and friendly. The salon’s modern and fun decor had a fresh beach vibe that made you feel relaxed and ready to enjoy the whole experience.

Along with hair/nail/skin packages, they also offer amazing bridal packages for hair and make up for the bride and all of her bridesmaids, so if you are planning on a Long Beach Island wedding, this is the place to go! Whether you’re looking for a fresh coat of polish to sport on the beach, a sexy new hairstyle for a romantic night by the bay or a Swedish massage to take away some tension, Aqua Bleu has it all!

Cocktails & Couture ~ An Evening of Fun, Food and Fashion

Recently, TFT hosted ‘Cocktails & Couture’, our annual client party for our current, past and future clients. We had such a blast with all of our guests and vendor friends that we had to share all of the amazing details!


The night kicked off at our new office in Millburn, where our guests were greeted with some champagne as they took a tour of the new space.  Once everyone was ready (and the champagne was gone!) we all headed around the corner to Exquisite Bride for an evening of
Cocktails & Couture!

Guests walked the red carpet as they entered the room which featured some fab furniture, compliments of Jersey Street Furniture Rentals. The rooms were adorned with fun floral pieces created by Floral Sentiments. Kevin of Platinum Entertainment, our ‘resident’ DJ and emcee, set the tone with some chart topping tracks.


Our bartender for the evening was Brandon from Flair Everything and he definitely added tons of flair. He served up some delicious signature drinks such as the TFTini, Blushing Bride and Diamonds are Forever. Everyone enjoyed watching him create the drinks just as much as they enjoyed drinking them!

Martini Bistro created some delicious fare for our guests to enjoy along with their cocktails -the spinach turkey wrap was a big hit! And for dessert? Extremely yummy and beautiful cupcakes and cookies from A Cake Dream! Check out these incredible red velvet and cream cheese cupcakes.

All of our guests mingled and had the chance to walk through the rooms of Exquisite Bride to see all of the stunning couture gowns and accessories. Exquisite’s designer shoes were on display as well which all the ladies in attendance had to check out! Bardot Lingerie also showcased a few of their sexy pieces from one of their collections.

Guests also had the chance to meet with Magda of Magda’s Designs for a free make up consultation! Also on hand was Kristina of Plumes in Bloom who creates gorgeous hair accessories. The whole TFT team rocked some of her hot designs – these are a must have- stay tuned for our Fab Find feature on them!

During the evening, we also held our ‘Newly-to-be-Wed’ Game, where engaged couples played for a chance to win an amazing wedding prize package. Our contestants did a great job answering questions about wedding facts, etiquette, celebrity weddings, fashion and more. After a few exciting rounds of competition, the final round was neck and neck and it went to ‘sudden death’!

Our grand prize winner was Jessica (pictured on left below with a shocked reaction!) who won planning services, an engagement photo session, musicians for cocktail hour, DJ entertainment for her reception, wedding day make up and hair, custom hair accessory, a cathedral length veil, and a sexy lingerie set! It was such a close game that our second place winner, Kristina, (pictured below on right) also took home a beautiful cathedral length veil.

There were lots of other fun raffle prizes such as dinner and an overnight stay at the Westminster Hotel in Livingston, handmade jewelry by Vandana, Vosges Chocolate gift box, family portrait session, custom art cookie certificate and more! Everyone in attendance received a fabulous gift bag filled with items from all of our sponsors as well as treats from Chocolate Bacio, W Hoboken, Creative Custom Card Boxes, and more! Each of our guests also made time for some fun photos to take home with them in our photo booth provided by Party Perfect Rentals.

It was an amazing evening and we are already looking forward to next year’s client party!

Vendor Spotlight ~ Craig Scott Entertainment


In honor of ‘Wedding Wednesday’, we take a look at our good friends over at Craig Scott Entertainment!

Craig Scott Entertainment is a full service entertainment office based in New York and New Jersey that represents professional musicians and entertainers.

CSE was formed in 1984 by COO Nick Dellossa and CEO Scott Hornak. Nick and Scott became friends in 1979 after meeting at a park jazz concert and started working together. In 1982, Scott had then set out to work on cruise ships and got the chance to perform with musicians that had played for the Royal Family, Presidents and some of the World’s top social register. After playing with them, he would go into the lounge and stay up all night listening to all of their amazing, inspirational stories. Scott recalls being so excited, knowing that this is what he wanted to do and called Nick from the ship while in Bombay, India and told him he wanted to start an orchestra. Once he had returned in 1983, the pair put together a 4 piece band consisting of drums, trumpet, keyboards and guitar. From there, they began to build upon that band and gradually added more and more bands and services.


Now that CSE has grown to be a full service entertainment office, there is a rigorous screening process to become a part of Craig Scott. “We choose all of our entertainers from personal recommendations from musicians and entertainers that we work with..”, says Scott, “Hearing them live several times and interviews with the leader… It’s not just good enough to be a good band, DJ or entertainer, you also need to have the correct mindset and demeanor.”

Two of their most popular bands are Phase One and The Craig Scott Orchestra. Phase One, led by Rich Bascomb, is a CSE favorite for they cover artists ranging from Tom Petty, The Clash, Dave Matthews to Ke$ha! They also expand into international segments performing Greek, Italian, traditional Israeli and even Russian. The Craig Scott Orchestra features both CSE creators Nick and Scott. The CS Orchestra has a 9 piece minimum with a total of 8 lead vocalists and 2 horns. Stan Gilbert, their ‘Sinatra Specialist,’ is a great addition to the band which many clients also opt for. Known for its ‘high energy’ presentation and wide diversity, the CS Orchestra ranges from today’s Top 40 hits to Motown, R&B, and of course Frank Sinatra. Having the Craig Scott Orchestra at your event will ensure a full dance floor!
