Be Romantic All Year Round…

As Valentine’s Day quickly approaches, you might be thinking of what you can do to show your honey how much you love him throughout the year. While this holiday is always a very special time to be extra romantic with the one you love, there are an additional 364 days on the calendar to do simple sweet things to show your guy just how much you care. Below are some fun ideas to show your love any day of the year!

Write a Love Message On The Mirror ~ When your guy is in the shower and the mirror is fogged up, write a simple note to him as a surprise for when he gets out. A simple ‘I Love You’ always seems to do the trick.

Write A List ~ On beautiful stationery, jot down all of the reasons your guy is ‘the one‘. Remind him of everything you love from his gorgeous eyes to that smile that melts your heart and let him know why he means so much to you.

Dress up and Dine ~ Surprise your guy with an impromptu romantic candlelight dinner at home! On a random weekday, make one of his favorite dishes, throw on your cutest stilettos and set the mood for when he gets home from work. Nothing says romance like a homemade meal.

Take Him Out to the Ball Game ~ Compromise is a big part of every relationship. If your man sits through flicks like “The Notebook” and “Pretty Woman”, why not even the score by taking him to see his favorite team in action.

Create A Scrapbook ~ Gather images of all of the fun times you have shared together over the past year, and write romantic captions for each image. This will be something you can both treasure for years to come.

Get Nicole Richie’s Wedding Look!

This past weekend Nicole Richie wed rocker Joel Madden of the band Good Charlotte. The wedding, held at Lionel Richie’s private Beverly Hills estate aimed to be small and intimate for the couple’s friends and family (at least by Hollywood’s standards). Guests were wowed by their personal greeter – an elephant used to symbolize good luck and good energy! The bride wore three wedding gowns throughout the night, all custom designed my Marchesa. Following her personal, vintage chic style, the gowns featured lace and tulle. As a personal touch, the couple had their names embroidered on the sleeve of one of her dresses.

Want to get Nicole’s look for your wedding? Because your budget may not allow for three custom dresses, here are three ways to create three of your own looks -with one dress! Choose a strapless gown to begin with. For your ceremony add a lace jacket and veil to complete your look. For your reception, switch the veil for a ribbon or lace headband. Throughout the night you may want to wear a lace shrug, which simply sits on the shoulders – or remove the jacket completely as the dance floor heats up! To tie your look in with your bridesmaids, consider having lace shrugs custom-made to match their dresses.

Engaged & Enchanted: Engagement Bash at the Palisadium

We love pre-wedding parties!  They give the couple a chance to celebrate with family and friends without the formalities of the wedding day.  They also give the couple an opportunity to express themselves and do something unique and fun.  That’s why we were thrilled when our couple, Rosemarie and Robert, asked us to help them plan and design an all out engagement bash at the Palisadium in Palisades Park, NJ.

The couple wanted something romantic and fun with lots of sparkle.  To compliment the breathtaking NYC skyline views from the Palisadium’s wrap around windows, we created a romantic Victorian inspired event with a modern City Chic twist.

The event was announced with custom designed invitations from our Paperie team.  Silver embossed pockets were embellished with handmade crystal chiffon paper, black velvet ribbon, and gorgeous rhinestone vintage buttons.

We designed four coordinating table designs in pink, black, and silver with crystal and rhinestone accents.  Incredible flowers displayed throughout the room were provided by Santos Florist.  Our friends at Confectionary Designs outdid themselves with an absolutely gorgeous 4-tier cake with sugar pearl accents and custom heart cookie favors that complimented the donation made to the American Heart Association.

We congratulate this beautiful couple on their engagement and look forward to their wedding in June 2012!

Thank you to our incredible vendor team for making this a night to remember:

2011 Color of the Year Revealed!

Global color authority, Pantone, announced yesterday the color of the year for 2011 – Honeysuckle!  The reddish pink color according to Pantone, “lifts spirits and imparts confidence to meet life’s ongoing challenges.” While 2010’s color of the year, Turquoise, represented escaping everyday challenges, Honeysuckle provides energy to help overcome challenges head on.

The color is a wonderful hue for romantic, fun weddings and makes a perfect accent color when you just want a burst of color to enliven a neutral palette.  We could see this color being used in all different styles of weddings ranging from garden soirees to sleek lounge fetes.

We foresee this color becoming a popular choice for bridesmaid dresses, flower-girl sashes, and groomsmen ties.  It has already been added to Pantone Wedding Colors available from Dessy, a leading manufacturer of bridesmaid, social occasion, and flower-girl dresses.  See for more information.

Celebs are wasting no time! Honeysuckle has already been seen on the red carpet worn by fashionistas such as Kate Bosworth, Liz Hurley, Rosario Dawson and more. Check out fashion icons Blake Lively, First Lady Michelle Obama and Gwyneth Paltrow who we caught rockin’ the color of 2011!

Guest Blogger: Picking the Perfect Wedding Day Jewelry from Vandana at Vandana Jewelry

I recently attended a jewelry showcase for one of our favorite wedding professionals, Vandana Jewelry.  Vandana has custom created jewelry for several of our Brides and her creations have been featured on the Style Network reality show "Whose Wedding is it Anyway?"

Bridesmaid Bracelet & Earrings

The showcase featured some of the latest trends in jewelry including fun, funky cocktail rings.

I picked up a couple of stylish pieces including a double onyx and sterling silver bracelet and elegant pearl and crystal earrings.

I asked Vandana about her company and if she could share with us all some ways to pick the perfect jewelry for your wedding day.  Please read on for her great tips.

Happy Planning,

 The Studio Photographers

Vandana Jewelry is elegant and feminine. I started to design and make jewelry over a decade ago and found a passion for creating wearable art. Since then, my focus has evolved into a variety of areas of hand-made jewelry design.

The materials that I use are sterling silver, Swarovski crystals, semi-precious stones, freshwater pearls, and gold overlaid on sterling silver. I source only the highest-quality pieces so my clients can enjoy their jewelry's beauty for a lifetime.

Have you ever wished that someone could design jewelry that was uniquely suited to your personality, style, and taste? As a bride, you want a unique piece of jewelry that is yours and yours alone on your special and memorable day.
When selecting jewelry for your wedding day consider the following:

1) Colors that compliment your skin tone:  Pearls are great since they can actually compliment just about any skin tone and since they come in a variety of colors it is easy to find a color that works well with you.  To compliment olive and darker skin tones, sterling silver and/or clear colored crystals along with pearls work well.  For pinkish skin tones we recommend gold tones with colored Swarovski crystals to match your wedding colors if possible.

2) Neckline & Color of your dress:  For a sweetheart neckline, maybe consider a longer necklace with a Swarovski crystal teardrop pendant.  The size of the pendant can vary.  For a straight neckline, choose a shorter necklace with elegant and simple accents.  If you have a cream colored dress, cream colored pearls to match work wonderfully.  For dresses with crystals and/or sequins, Swarovski crystal pieces accent very nicely with them.
3) Length and size of pieces that work with your body type:  For petite frames, choose shorter necklaces and not too heavy or chunky pieces.  For medium frames, 18 inch necklaces and matching bracelets work nicely.  For large frames, brides can usually pull off a 3 piece set of necklace, earrings & bracelet.
4) A piece that will make you feel that it was especially made for you:
When you buy a customized unique piece of jewelry that is a result of a consultation with a designer and really takes into account all the things unique to you, this is a piece that you will treasure for years to come.  Every time you put it on not only will it remind you of your special wedding day but the fact that no one else in the world has this unique piece and that it is as special as you are.
