Super Sweet Bridal Shower!

We have had the pleasure of working with our lovely bride-to-be Rosemarie over the past year in bringing her big day together – so when we were asked to provide some decor for her beautiful bridal shower we were beyond excited! The TFT team created a custom candy bar and signage to complement the pink, sage and gold theme. It was an amazing event to be a part of and it was so great to see the bride-to-be so happy. Check out some pics of the dessert table and signage designed especially for Rosemarie’s bridal shower!

Wishing all the best for Rosemarie and Robert and looking forward to their big day on June 16, 2012!

Oooh La La! A Pink & Black French Couture Bridal Shower

We had the pleasure of planning a bridal shower with one of our favorite wedding professionals, Vandana Taneja of Vandana Jewelry, in honor of her sister-in-law, Rajni.  The shower had to be as stylish as the gorgeous Bride-to-Be so we designed the shower to have a chic Pink & Black French Couture theme.  Everything from the hand cut invitations to the bridal shower bingo cards were custom made to evoke an atmosphere of fashion, fun, and fabulousness.

Thanks  to Vici for the fantastic food, Linens by RazaTrade, Infinity Entertainment, and David Toth Photography for capturing all of the beautiful details!

Congratulations to Rajni and Harry who were married just a few weeks ago.  We wish them a lifetime of love and happiness.

Exclusive Finishing Touch Offer From The Lia Schorr Day Spa in NYC

Lia Schorr

As a special first Mother's Day gift from my husband, I recently spent a day of pampering at the Lia Schorr Day Spa in NYC.  Although the ambiance of the spa is quite understated, the services are superb.  Lia greeted me personally when I arrived, and by the time I left, I felt like family.  Her accommodating staff made me feel the same way too.  I greatly enjoyed my hot stone massage and body scrub by Siobhan, wax by Tami and crystal and seaweed facial by Eugenyia.

Lia has been in business for almost thirty years, and most of her team has been with her since the very beginning.  Lia also runs a skin care school, and has had numerous celebrity clients visit her spa throughout the years including Oprah and Brooke Shields.

Just in time for wedding season, and as a special treat for our Finishing Touch brides and friends, Lia is offering 30% off of all her services if you mention reading this blog.  Visit her website here to learn more, and book your appointment for a day of beauty today.  Enjoy!

Cheers,

Soroya

Jenn’s Exotic Bridal Shower

When our bride Jenn's mother and bridesmaids came to us looking for ideas for her bridal shower decor, the Design Team at our sister company The Finishing Touch Event Design was more than happy to help.  After discussing Jenn's interests and style with them, they put together one of their signature Decor Books to offer some inspiration and helped them find unique decor items.

The theme of the shower was Far East Exotic which incorporated Jenn's love of exotic decor, inspirational literature, and art.  The event was held at the Bonefish Grill in Secaucus, NJ.  Guests were greeted by a table featuring an adorable Balinese Festival Parasol and custom seating cards.  The seating cards were made of colorful inspirational quote cards from Tavis Smiley with tags with the guest name and tables printed on them.

The reception tables were decorated with more Balinese Festival Parasols in Grass Green and White and Nepalese Lanterns handmade from Lokta Paper.  Each table was named after Jenn's favorite artists including Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, and Pablo Picasso.

Jenn was very surprised when she walked in to see her friends and family waiting to shower her with love and good wishes for her upcoming wedding.  She was also touched to know that her mother and bridesmaids put so much thought and time into making sure her shower was extra special and tailored to her.

Special thanks to Jenn's friend Leslie for the great photos!

We can't wait to share with you all the details and gorgeous photos of Jenn & Eliu's destination wedding in the Dominican Republic.  Stay tuned for a post on their special day coming soon.

2008 – What a Year!

What a year!  2008 flew by so quickly and was so full of amazing events, we can hardly believe 2009 is already here.

As we think of all of the wonderful things we have to be thankful for here at The Finishing Touch, we would like to take this opportunity to look back on 2008 and talk about all of the fantastic events and accomplishments.  We would also like to let you know about the great things we have coming up in the new year.

2008 brought many changes to The Finishing Touch.  We opened a London office to cater to European clients looking to get married in the NY Metro area and US clients planning European destination weddings and honeymoons.

We gained four new team members – Leah Rosensweig, Nicole Spagnoli, Priscilla Leto, and Soroya Campbell.

Another huge milestone that we are very excited about is that we added an Event Decor Design division specializing in creation of unique custom stationery and decor including invitations, programs, menus, seating cards, table numbers, favors, and bridal party gifts.

Dining on the High Seas

Last week I had the pleasure of having lunch on The Moshulu at Penn's Landing in Philadelphia, PA.  This 125-year old boat has had a very interesting past from working ports all over the world to serving as a floating warehouse and surviving a fire.  Now its a AAA Four Diamond Award gourmet restaurant.

IMG_1556

Besides the very interesting and unique setting, the food was awesome.  For an appetizer, I had the hands down best bruschetta ever.  It was on grilled ciabatta bread topped with some of the best fresh mozzarella I have ever had, grilled onions, and giant slices of red and yellow beefsteak tomatoes, drizzled with aged balsamic.

The sandwiches they have for lunch are huge and I should have shared mine as I did not even eat 1/2 of it.

Dessert was the piece de resistant.  I had the Mini Ice Cream Sandwiches and Cones.  There were 3 homemade mini ice cream sandwiches – Oreo White Chocolate Raspberry, Chipwich Butter Pecan, and Graham Cracker Apple Crisp.  Each had a hole in the top that had a mini cone in each topped with 3 different flavors of water ice.  Adorable!!

IMG_1551

They were setting up for a wedding while we were there.  What a unique spot for an event!

I would love to go back there one night for dinner since lunch was so good.  It would be nice to have dinner and then go up to their deck bar for drinks.  I need to make plans to go to one of their Mojito parties on Saturday nights soon.  :  )

All the best,

Priscilla

Girls’ Night Out 19 Floors Up

On Monday night, Candice and I went to a Grand Opening "Girls' Night Out" at Mad46, the new rooftop lounge on the 19th floor of New York City's Roosevelt Hotel.  This invitation-only event was designed to bring together female event professionals for a fun night of food and drinks – no boys allowed.  : )

MAD46_pic

We snacked on chicken satay and coconut shrimp and sipped creative cocktails, while taking in the amazing view of the NY skyline and sharing stories about our event experiences.  By the way, I am not a big fan of mojitos normally but the Mad Coconut Mojito they offer there is excellent.  I also recommend the Summertime Splash made with Pineapple Vodka, Coconut Rum, Blue Curacao, and Pineapple Juice – its like a tropical vacation in a glass.

Mad46 is a fantastic place to go for an after-work drink with co-workers or a relaxing night out with friends.  They offer a light snack menu and an extensive cocktail menu.  They can also host private parties such as corporate events or bridal/baby showers.

For more information, go to www.theroosevelthotel.com/Dining/Mad46/.

All the best,

Priscilla

Spring is in the Air

Img_0853 Spring is finally here!  The birds are out and the trees are blossoming.  Its the perfect time of year for a bridal shower.  We just created a beautiful Spring themed bridal shower in March for one of our brides-to-be, Rebecca.

It was held at this lovely little French Country bistro in Morristown called Pierre'sThey serve a fantastic buffet complete with homemade salads, quiche, poached salmon, fresh roasted turkey, and loin of pork. Their Alsace Room was the perfect spot for the shower and complimented the pastel color scheme perfectly.  Everyone had a great time and the bride-to-be was so excited to spend a wonderful day with her family and friends.

Here are some ways to make a bridal shower special and memorable:

Img_0857Pamper the Bride-to-Be

Img_0885 We made sure Rebecca was treated like Queen for the day.  Her table was set with a rose and wheat grass centerpiece that was different from the other tables.  Her seat was marked by yellow and white daisy balloons.  At her place setting, she received a special blue daisy arrangement (her favorite flowers), a cute Skittles dispenser (her favorite candy), and a special blue (her favorite color) champagne cocktail.

Get Creative

Img_0861_2 No need to have a cookie cutter bridal shower.  Have fun with a theme!  We wanted to welcome in Spring at this shower so we named all the tables after different Spring flowers and decorated everywhere we could with flowers and butterflies.  We made seating cards from vintage crepe paper baskets and decorated them with vintage paper butterflies and forget-me-nots.  The baskets were filled with pastel colored M&Ms and placed on a tray of wheat grass.

The Wishing Well ~ Some Alternatives

I don't know about you but we are thinking that the traditional wishing well at bridal showers has been overdone.  How about coming up with some new ideas and create a specific theme of items for your guests to provide.

We decided that there was to be no wishing well at this shower.  Instead, we decided to Img_0864_3 play on the bride-to-be's love of the lottery and have a "Pot of Luck."  Each guest was asked to bring a scratch-off lottery ticket with them.  This also worked out perfectly since St. Patrick's Day was the day after the shower!  Rebecca had the best time scratching off all the tickets in hopes of winning a jackpot to help pay for that upcoming wedding.  :  )

That's all for now.  Enjoy the nice weather and get outdoors.

Happy Planning!

Priscilla
