A Beautiful Baptism for Amelia Beatrice!

We recently had the pleasure of working with our past clients, Gabby & Mike, on the baptism for their beautiful daughter Amelia. We had such a great time working with them for their wedding day we were thrilled to be on board to work with them on this special event. Baby Amelia looked adorable in her gown, shoes and head band! The baptism was held at the beautiful St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Princeton – the same place Gabby & Mike were married.

After the beautiful ceremony, guests headed over to Camillo’s Cafe for the reception. A Manzanita branch arrangement was set up to display the custom escort cards that were hung with pink ribbon on each of the branches. The room was decorated with pink and white floral arrangements at each table along with custom table names and menus that were also created by our design team.

For dessert, TFT designed a pink, white and silver candy bar for guests to take home a sweet treat. Another great addition to the table was mini cupcakes from The Bent Spoon. Guests also received a favor box to take home a memento from this special day that was wrapped and adorned with coordinating favor tags.

Congratulations to Gabby, Mike and baby Amelia! We wish them all the best!!

Special Thanks to Jenn M Photography for these great photos!

Baby Gone Wild! -Jungle Themed Baby Shower

We had such a blast planning this ‘Baby Gone Wild’ baby shower! When we heard the news that our past client Nicole was expecting, we couldn’t wait to plan her an amazing shower. For the decor, we used fun animal prints in lavender and sage to incorporate the colors of the baby’s nursery.

The rooms were decorated with multi-layered pillar candles, lanterns, tea lights, and votives. Ivy vines, floor plants and other greenery added to the jungle ambiance of the shower along with bronze statuettes of wild animals such as giraffes, elephants, cheetahs and more which were spread about the room. Custom animal print stationery and signage was created by the design team at TFT and used throughout the event.

The tables were adorned with candles, ivy and river rock accents atop chocolate brown linens provided by Party Rental LTD. The beautiful centerpieces, designed by Petals Premier, incorporated stunning purple vanda orchids with lily grass placed in pyramid shaped vases.

As guests arrived, they were asked to write their well wishes for baby and any words of advice for the new Mom-to-Be. These were then placed in a scrapbook to be kept in the baby’s nursery. Everyone then settled in and awaited Nicole’s arrival.

The Mommy-to-Be was beyond surprised upon entering that it brought her to tears – happy tears of course! Our good friend David Toth of David Toth Photography was on hand to capture her reaction as well as all of the details and events of the day. After greeting everyone, Nicole and her thirty guests sat down to enjoy lunch that everyone in attendance contributed to making. The two signature drinks, Passion Fruit Punch and Forest Green Tea were a big hit and enjoyed by all. Some of Nicole’s friends purchased a special ‘Baby Bump’ glass for her that was super cute – so cute in fact she used it right then and there!

After lunch, it was time for ‘Baby Gone Wild’ trivia! We created a custom trivia game that featured categories such as celebrity baby names, baby facts, and name that nursery rhyme. Once trivia was complete, it was onto presents! There were so many amazing gifts for the new baby girl – from a rocking horse to handmade blankets to clothes, clothes, clothes..well she will certainly be a little fashionista!

Once Nicole opened all of the beautiful presents, it was time for dessert. The two tiered custom cake was designed by the oh so fab Sabrina of A Cake Dream. She did an amazing job capturing the design of the shower and incorporating it into a confectionery delight! The cookie favors, also designed by A Cake Dream, matched the cake design perfectly and featured different sayings such as ‘Born to Be Wild’ and ‘Baby Gone Wild’.

We had so much fun planning this event for Nicole. Everyone in attendance had such a great time and we were so happy to be a part of this special day.

Soon after, Nicole and her husband Chris welcomed their beautiful baby girl Quinn Olivia – we wish the new happy family all the best!

Chapter 4: The Arrival!

Congratulations to our couple Ailyn and Janine who welcomed a new addition to their family!

Aiden Manuel was born on January 9th, 2011 – what a little Prince Charming!

Today we take a look back at their fun ‘Fairy Tale’ themed baby shower.

We wish them all the best with their new bundle of joy!

The Finishing Touch recently had the privilege of planning and designing a ‘Fairy Tale’ themed baby shower for our couple Ailyn & Janine. We had a great time working with this awesome couple who are expecting a baby boy. For their invitations, we designed a custom fairy tale story book that featured a small verse along with all of the details of their day.

The shower was held on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Maritime Parc in Jersey City. The ceiling was decorated with ice blue and white paper lanterns in various sizes and the ledges featured various vintage glass jars, votives and flowers. As guests arrived, they were greeted by a tall Manzanita branch arrangement that was adorned with hanging candles, mason jars, and flowers as well as their seating cards. Drinks were also offered to the mingling guests which featured ‘Maritime Punch’ and other mocktails. In place of a sign in book, guests were asked to write their well wishes for the new baby inside the covers of a story book.

Guests were seated at their tables which were labeled as chapters of a storybook such as ‘Once Upon A Time’, ‘The Baby Bump’, ‘Happily Ever After’ and more. Tables were draped with light blue and chocolate brown linens featuring leather bound storybooks, glass cylinders decorated with a paper overlay of vintage children’s book illustrations and accented with arrangements of hydrangeas and wildflowers. At each setting was a custom menu which showcased each course that was to be served.

After dining, the guests showered Ailyn & Janine with many gifts for their new baby boy. Instead of a wishing well, guests were asked to bring a storybook for the baby and they placed them in an antique book shelf located near the gift table. After opening gifts and playing some Baby Bingo, it was time for cake!

Confectionary Designs did an incredible job creating a custom ‘Fairy Tale’ cake for Ailyn and Janine. The cake was designed as three stacked storybooks decorated with figurines made out of gumpaste -they even incorporated a Yorkie figurine to represent the couple’s pet! Not only was the cake beautiful but it was delicious as well! For favors, guests received Vintage Moon bookmarks wrapped in white and blue as well as a keepsake photo of each guest with Ailyn in front of the NYC skyline. Special thanks to Melissa Calrow from Photography by Melissa for capturing all of these fabulous details!

We had a great time creating this Fairy Tale shower and we wish Ailyn, Janine and their new baby a very happily ever after!
