TFT heads to Martha Stewart’s Wedding Party!

This past Sunday we had the pleasure of attending “Martha Stewart’s Wedding Party” at Gotham Hall in New York City, which was produced by Claudia Hanlin of The Wedding Library.  It was absolutely fantastic and we had such a great time!!

One of the event’s highlights was a panel discussion featuring some of the industry’s icons including the fabulous Floral and Event Designer Preston Bailey, Cake Designer and Expert Sylvia Weinstock, fashion designer Amsale Aberra and Darcy Miller, the editorial director at Martha Stewart Weddings and Celebrations.

We also really enjoyed Claudia’s discussion about the importance of the details in your wedding (of course!) as well as Sue Corral’s talk about branding your wedding.  It was all great information.

Throughout the day, we met fun brides and fell in love with so many awesome vendors, but one of our absolute favorites is Sandy Patangay, owner of Creme Delicious.  Her elaborate and scrumptious cakes are an amazing addition to any event.  Thanks Sandy for being so fantastic!

We look forward to attending the next Wedding Library event!

LBI Tall Ship Wedding – Tomorrow!!

We are so excited for tomorrow’s wedding of Sandy and Jim!

Check out their love story and come witness their marriage aboard the A.J. Meerwald in LBI tomorrow!

Sandy and Jim, both of Mount Arlington, NJ, are former Jefferson Township High School classmates who reconnected over 20 years later, will be married tomorrow aboard New Jersey’s official Tall Ship, the A.J. Meerwald in Beach Haven. They were chosen as winners of the third annual “Tie The Knot on the Tall Ship” contest, sponsored by the Southern Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism, Reclam The Bay, Schooner A.J. Meerwald, Museum of NJ Maritime History and Various local wedding service providers also have offered their products and services for this special occasion.

“When Sandy and Jim were chosen as finalists in the contest and I began to correspond with Sandy, it was clear that they had a special love story to share” said Erik Kent, Co-Publisher of Sandy and Jim grew up and went to high school in Jefferson Township together. After high school, Jim joined the Navy and then moved to North Carolina, subsequently losing touch with Sandy and eventually spending part of his military career in Iraq. Sandy and Jim went on to marry other people and start their own families. About a year ago, after both having become divorced, they reconnected on Facebook, which led to email and phone calls and then meeting up again.

After spending more time with each other and with their families, as well as using Facebook to keep in touch regularly, it became clear to both Sandy and Jim that they wanted to move forward with their relationship. In January 2011, for Sandy’s birthday, Jim came for a visit and proposed marriage with matching puzzle rings, Celtic Knot ones, knowing of Sandy’s Irish heritage. He moved to New Jersey in February and his son moved here in May. Regarding making plans for their wedding, Jim chose his favorite number (7), and his grandfather’s favorite number (23), so a combination of the two led to the wedding date of July 23. With Jim’s Navy history and both their love of the water, they had originally planned for a small ceremony along the Jersey shore. Sandy had spent her childhood at her grandparents shore house in Manahawkin, so LBI was a perfect fit!

Now that Sandy and Jim have been chosen as the winners, their wedding ceremony service will be performed by Deborah C. Whitcraft, a wedding officiant and former mayor of Beach Haven, NJ. Up to 80 guests will be allowed on the ship’s deck, and another 100 guests may congregate on the wharf to witness the marriage ceremony. Photography for the wedding ceremony will be provided by David Toth Photographers, invites/programs will be provided by Stephanie Somodi – Designing Your Most Inviting Day, video coverage of the event will be provided by J & S Video Services, wedding ceremony flowers will be arranged by Camille’s Floral Designs and wedding planning and consulting services will be provided by yours truly… The Finishing Touch!

The public is invited to witness the wedding ceremony aboard the A.J. Meerwald on Saturday, July 23rd at 1:00pm.  New Jersey’s official “Tall Ship” is docked in Beach Haven, NJ (Center Street and the Bay) from July 20th through July 24th, and visitors may take a deck tour, go for a two-hour sail, or participate in a 4-hour eco/heritage event on and around the A.J. Meerwald on July 23rd. For additional information about the history of the A.J. Meerwald and opportunities to visit, check out the web site at

Royal Dress Revealed!

The moment that every little girl dreams of has finally happened for Kate Middleton! She can now be called Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge. After months of anticipation, audiences around the world watched as the Royal Wedding took place this morning. Princess Catherine surprised everyone as her royal wedding gown fit for a princess was finally revealed.

The Dress: Many had suspected a more modern gown and a turn from tradition. But the now princess opted for a timeless dress that was simple, elegant and absolutely stunning. Her dress, designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, had a beautiful lace bodice and long lace sleeves with a full skirt. The dress, made of ivory and white satin gazar was covered in a lace applique that was handmade by the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace. Many said the dress was reminiscent of the gown Princess Grace wore on her wedding day in 1956. Although it may have been fun to see her push the envelope a litle bit more it was a wise choice for her to choose something timeless.

The Veil, Crown and Accessories: The veil consisted of layers of ivory silk tulle with an embroidered flower trim. Her veil was held in place by a 1936 Cartier ‘halo’ tiara that was once worn by The Queen mother and presented to the current Queen Elizabeth on her 18th birthday. The diamond drop earrings were designed by Robinson Pelham and given to the bride by her parents as a wedding gift. The princess’s wedding shoes were Alexander McQueen. They were hand-made and consisted of ivory duchesse satin with lace hand-embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework.

The Flowers: Princess Catherine’s bouquet, designed by Shane Connolly, was small and simple, yet lovely. It was made of Lily-of-the-Valley, Sweet William, Hyacinth, Ivy and Myrtle.

The Prince: Prince William, who is commissioned in all three of the British Armed Services, wore a scarlet military uniform with a sash and star signifying his honorary rank of Colonel of the Irish Guards. Source: ABC News Choosing the perfect wedding gown is very exciting, but it can also be a difficult choice to make.

Here are some very important tips on how to choose the dress the right for you:

– Talk to your wedding planner about the best places to find your dress.

– Look through magazines and online to find dresses that you like.

– Choose a dress that is appropriate for the season and the overall feel of your day.

– Be sure to wear the heels that you will actually be wearing on your special day.

– Make sure you go to every dress fitting.

– Select a gown preservation service ahead of time, such as Madame Paulette, to ensure your gown is kept protected.

– Select a dress the helps to express your personal style.

– Choose a dress that makes your feel special and that will “wow” your guests.

– Don’t rush into making the purchase. Make sure you choose the best dress for you.

– Don’t let yourself get stressed. Trying on wedding dresses is not something a girl gets to do every day so just enjoy it and have fun!
